We are The Flower Fund.
Founded during the global pandemic of 2020, The Flower Fund’s mission is to eliminate barriers to accessing mental health care and support the health and well-being of Black, Latinx, Indigenous, queer, trans, Disabled, and immigrant individuals and their communities.
Our values.
We strive to be intentional with our words—we want to decolonize language and move away from patriarchal standards. We want to break down barriers on all fronts—that includes:
- Access to the internet.
- Physical space.
- Language / translation.
- And more.
We admit that we are not perfect; if there’s ever feedback on lack of inclusivity or sensitivity, we want to hear it.
Our pillars of access.

Funding
Provide financial support to target communities. In 2016, 11.8 million Americans had a need for mental health services that went unmet; of these, nearly 38 percent could not afford the cost of treatment.
Education
Educate in creative ways to break stigmas and misinformation. Low perceived need and attitudinal/evaluative barriers are the major barriers to treatment seeking and staying in treatment among individuals with common mental disorders.
Network
Build a network of relevant providers and group settings for our target communities. Women of color make up less than 5 percent of psychiatrists, psychologists and social works available to treat patients.
Policy
Provide an avenue for discussion around mental health policies at the local, state, and federal level.
